Leftwing Bullies and Hypocrites

“A gay rights activist threw glitter at Rep. Michele Bachmann Saturday…. Tim Pawlenty and … Newt Gingrich both had glitter tossed at them during recent book signings.  [the activist] called the attack "a really good-natured, light-hearted way to bring attention to … gay rights."

This behavior is nothing new.  Back in the 70’s Thomas Forcade, founder of the pro-marijuana magazine, High Times, began throwing pies at people whom he perceived to be opposed to his political agenda.  In doing so he started a trend among leftists and anarchists (pretty much the same thing) who proceeded to lob pies at people they deemed deserving of ridicule, ambushing them when they least expected it.  Needless to say their targets were mostly conservatives, and included people like Anita Bryant, William Buckley, G. Gordon Liddy, Ann Coulter and David Horowitz, among others.   People working as part of the activist group PETA regularly throw blood or “flour bombs” at people, mostly celebrities, who inspire their ire by wearing fur.

It is no coincidence that this behavior is almost exclusively engaged in by the Left, as it is part and parcel of the leftist mentality (and their inherent immaturity) that they assume it to be their right to bully those who don’t subscribe to their agenda.  Bullying is in fact at the strategic forefront of just about every group with a leftwing agenda, from the aggressive behavior we see at union protests to the frequent boycotts called for against conservative radio and t.v. shows in an attempt to put them out of business.

This is why I am bemused by all of the anti-bullying campaigns that we see liberals promoting everywhere these days.  The blind hypocrisy is nothing short of amazing.  Stompoutbullying.org (“…a partner of MTV’s ‘Love is Louder’ Campaign), is just one example among many.  It’s sponsored by The View, for instance, which of course is the same program where regular co-host Joy Behar called Sharron Angle a "bitch" multiple times and said that she is "going to hell."  Feigning offense at an anti-illegal immigration ad put out by Angle, Behar challenged, “I’d like to see her do this ad in the South Bronx.  Come here, bitch!  Come to New York and do it!”

Fellow liberals out there apparently see nothing ironic about Joy “Come here, bitch” Behar sponsoring a campaign against bullying, and this epitomizes what conservatives are up against in this country.

  1. You know it never occurred to me until you wrote this post that, in fact, bullies are always hypocrites. For me, this is significant to realize. Allows me to view many comments and PsOV in a different light. I have always separated the two concepts.

Thanx for the great read and revelation, CW! Appreciate it muchly.

  2. Dear Faithful reader (that’s you, Mrs. AL!),

Thanks for commenting. Hypocrisy is a byproduct of liberalism. It’s what naturally occurs when someone chooses a position based on something other than sound reasoning and valid principles. And since bullying is a common tactic of the Left, it often goes hand in hand with hypocrisy. I, for one, would love to see the outrage by those on the Left if those of their own persuasion were regularly pummeled with objects in a “good-natured” way to bring attention to right-wing issues. Maybe we could hurl IOUs at Obama, Bernanke and Geitner to signify our unhappiness with the debt and condoms at Charlie Sheen just because he’s a leftwing pig and we’d like him to stop reproducing.

People often tend to think of bullying only in the physical sense but really it is intimidation, and that can take many forms. The imposition of political correctness (by the “PC police”) is probably the most prevalent form of bullying, and we all know who the PC police are.

  3. P.S. Mrs. AL,

Where is your blog? I can't find it.

  4. It's no accident that the left campaigns against bullying. You see they don't want anyone bullying but them. They don't want people learning how to stand up against bullies so that when the left bullies, you back down. They want sheep not people who fight back. Wolves chase coyotes away because coyotes make the sheep jumpy; they want them relaxed when they attack.

That's exactly right. I could not have said it better myself.

  6. Bullys are cowards at heart. They believe themselves somehow superior yet lack the mental maturity (your concept) to be able to operate w/o an audience. Double standards, etc are commonplace with the bully crowd. As long as they are theh center of attention. Hypocrites. Gads that is a darn fine concept and thanx again.

I'm at Wordpress now, CW. (see below) Blogspot started getting weird and TH is just, well out to lunch at times. Like WP b/c you can subscribe to blogs and be notified via email (like here) and posting is simply a breeze for a 'puter ditz such as myself.

Q: why don't you "advertise" you blog more? Your logic is consistent and your writing is superb.
Mind if I drop by a couple places and suggest your blog?

And Jim ... is that really YOU (kidding). I agree with CW, you are exactly right. May have to abscond with your analogy when talking with a couple more liberal friends of mine.

  7. You summed it up pretty well, Mrs. AL!

After taking so long to establish a readership at TH – and then getting locked out of it – my efforts here have been begrudgingly half-hearted (okay, the truth is I’ve been pouting). I’m a little bit shy about advertising but you’re right. I should do it a little more if I’m going to keep blogging. Yes, please feel free to suggest my blog to anyone. The more the merrier!

  8. If you aren't opposed, begin by putting your blog's URL on your Wordpress "account" for commenting (like GunnyG did). Then those who visit me just have to click on your name/link.

  9. CW, I have always said that I could support liberal causes such as gay marriage (I think each state can decide these issues). But the way people protests for their causes in a disresprectful way always turns me off. For that reason I do not support gay marriage. If they want to protest respectfully (not bullying people) maybe then I will give them some consideration.

  10. CW, great post! You have a great way of giving good analogies to complex issues. To me, many of our rights are not material things or things you can purchase. They are free speech and freedom in general - things we take for granted.
