The One Critical Debate Question No One Ever Asks

Every debate moderator:   “How do you plan to pay for your [socialist] proposals?”

In 2019, this is what passes for a hard-hitting question in political debates, and it reveals a dangerous transformation that the Left has successfully engineered in the American mindset.  200…150…100, maybe even 50 years ago, the real question would have been:

“What gives you the right to propose such things?”

And it would have – should have – been asked with an attitude of righteous indignation if not unabashed outrage.

Not anymore.  Now that the Left has trained us, like robotic serfs, to think the way they would like us to think, we no longer question whether the elected “representatives” controlling the reins of government have the right to do the things they do, or to take the things they take.  It’s now just a matter of whether we can “afford” it and - trust me – the so-called “progressives” will always determine that their socialist schemes are affordable.  One way or another.

This was never what the Founders intended, nor is it constitutional by any stretch of the imagination.  How is my welfare served when, after paying for my own college and helping my children with theirs, I am now forced to pay for the college of strangers?  If the leftist answer is that an educated populace is good for us all, then my response is that the societal benefit isn’t lessened when people pay their own way.  Turning us into a nation of thieves who think nothing of stealing from our fellow citizens does not improve the “general welfare.”  The same reasoning applies to the rest of the long list of “free” stuff proposed by the leftists who, for their own nefarious reasons, are obsessed with controlling our money.

But because Republicans do not have the good sense to stand up and talk about rights, we are reduced to the useless job of arguing over how things are “paid for,” which means we’ve already lost.  The only questions now are when and how much?  (And the respective answers are:  Sooner than you think; and:  As much as they can get).  So I will repeat my favorite joke (yes, AGAIN) as an added way of shedding light for those who still don’t get it:

A man asks a woman if she will have sex with him for a million dollars.  The woman mulls this over for a minute and ultimately decides that she just can’t pass up that much money, so she tells him, “Okay.  I will.”  Then the man asks her if she will have sex with him for 50 bucks, to which the outraged woman angrily responds, “What kind of a woman do you think I am?!”
The man says, “We’ve already established what kind of woman you are.  Now we’re just arguing over the price.”

By tempting us with “free” stuff at the expense of others, the Left has succeeded in turning Americans into whores and thieves.  Too many Americans no longer see ourselves as the rightful owners of our own money or of the labor we expend to produce that money.  We have stopped defending our rights, and we now just quibble over the price for our slavery.

That’s the sad reality of America in 2019.

  1. AMERICAN HISTORY IN A NUTSHELL:

    1. American Colonies fight a war against their tyrannical centralized ruler, The Crown.
    2. American Colonies win, gain their Sovereignty, and become the American States.
    3. Shortly after gaining Sovereignty the American States create a new tyrannical centralized ruler for themselves, The U.S. Government.
    4. Within a lifetime of its creation, the U.S. Government destroys the Sovereignty of the American States, rendering them Colonies again.
    5. The U.S. Government proceeds to enslave the American people.
    6. The U.S. Government then proceeds to destroy the American people.
    7. The End.

(If you disagree w/this you're probably a brainwashed ignorant moron who was educated by the U.S. Government.)

    1. And yet there will be government (“the system or group of people governing an organized community” - Wikipedia). This is a known fact.

Your answer is to embrace the silly delusion that “government” can somehow be avoided, the very act of which, most ironically, requires - and results in - an alternate government.

My answer is to try and change that group of people who make up the government (assuming that the framework for government is acceptable, which the U.S. Constitution is).

      I win.

    3. I notice you didn't actually dispute my "nutshell" post either, LOL.

    4. My answer to your nutshell post is: So? What is your point, or do you even have one?

What is the point of debating whether government is good or bad when it’s going to exist regardless???

    1. I literally laughed out loud at YOU calling ME “deluded and in denial.” As I told you (or one of your clones) long ago, your complaining to me about the evils of government is like complaining to me about the evils of mountains. It’s useless, because the government, like the mountains, is going to exist no matter how much you shake your puny little fist at it. Do you have a rebuttal to that? No. And yet you come here with such arrogance, believing you’ve discovered some brilliant secret that rest of us just don’t understand. You’re like a character in a Monty Python movie, and if your useless comment is an example of your own interpretation of libertarianism on display then the Libertarian Party is in bigger trouble then I thought.

Maybe next you’d like to rail against the existence of rocks or water, without offering any solutions of how we eradicate either one. How impressive.

You’re on notice that my patience is wearing very thin with you. If you can’t explain to me how I’m wrong about the inevitability of government, then you have nothing useful to add or to talk about. Bottom line: you don’t want to eradicate government. For all of your scoffing and deriding, you just want to put your own guys in charge. So much for your high ground, eh?

    2. So I see that while I was typing my response, you had second thoughts about what you posted, so I’ll share your comment here for any interested readers:

Unknown: “Once again we see the “Twin (Denial & Delusion) of conservatism on display! Talk a good game…but massively expand govt at every opportunity!”

    4. That’s right, I delete you because you have nothing intelligent or worthwhile to add, sadly. It’s just the same old thing you’ve posted (and I’ve addressed) over and over again. Don’t know that I’ve ever seen anyone so devoted to their precious prejudices as you are.

You go to lewrockwell.com or wherever you go and now you think you’ve acquired some secret insight and you’re smarter than everyone else, including the men who founded this country as we know it with whom – in life experience – you can’t even compare. You post a comment telling me how terrible government is and how it always goes bad and I ask you ONE SIMPLE QUESTION: What is the alternative to government? You refuse to answer because you know that the inevitability of gov’t is a big problem for your argument and, more importantly, for your self-righteousness, especially against the Founders, because they didn’t have the advantage you have of pretending that reality doesn’t exist. They had to work with the reality that if THEY didn’t establish a government, someone else would, and it might be just as bad as what they fought to free themselves from. They never claimed to have the magic solution to the dark side of human nature. They warned all along that it may be just a matter of time before people were seduced by the power that gov’t offers. A gov’t is only as good as the people (i.e. their intelligence, their morality, their sense of conscience and fairness), and YET THERE WILL BE GOV’T.

You want to argue about the wisdom of uniting the states and establishing a central government? We could have had that debate, and I would have been happy to hear your p.o.v., but first we would have to agree on the fact that gov’t is going to exist in one form or another because this is the bases from which all the options emanate. But you refuse to do so. You want to play baseball without any permanent place for the bases. Why would I play ball with you under those conditions?

I’m not going to waste my time with you, or allow you to post your dribble here AGAIN. If you want to rant, get your own blog. See what kind of following you get. If you ever grow up and want to have a real debate, let me know.
