<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Sometimes
people embrace victimhood when they don’t want to take responsibility for
what’s wrong with their lives - for the choices they’ve made, for the things
they did or didn’t do (or don’t want to do), for the failures they would rather
not analyze or own.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">That’s
pretty much the mentality at the root of the “white privilege” canard.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It’s a term invented for the purpose of
giving an entire race justification for self-pity, for wallowing in resentment
and for never facing the truth about the self-destructive norms that have
become entrenched in much of its community over the past 50 years (thanks to a
lot of help from meddling liberals). <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And
for those who are a bit more calculating, “white privilege” is the natural segue
into talk of reparations, i.e. taking money from people who never had slaves and
giving it to people who never were slaves.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">There’s a very
long list of successful black Americans.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Barack and Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, Michael Jordan,
Will Smith, Clarence Thomas, Tiger Woods, Ben Carson, Loretta Lynch, Tony
Dungy, Herman Cain, Colin Powell and Thomas Sowell, just off the top of my head,
are proof that today Americans are happy to reward talent and skill
irrespective of race (and gender, for that matter), and this list doesn’t
include the millions of black Americans who may not be celebrities but who are
just as successful as any middle class white American.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Are we supposed to believe that the children
of the Obamas or Will Smith or Tiger Woods are less “privileged” than millions
of other children in this country born to parents without fame or fortune?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>How is it possible that all of these people
have achieved success when they aren’t “privileged” by virtue of their skin
color?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And here’s another good question:
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>how is it that the “privilege” of being
white hasn’t spared millions of Caucasians from the clutches of poverty, the misery
of drug abuse or the despair of a prison cell? <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Now that we’ve
established that “privilege” isn’t necessarily tied to race, how else can we
explain the reality that whites, on average, fare better economically than
blacks even though the playing field has been evened out <i>legally</i> <b>for
more than half a century now</b>?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Everyone knows the answer to that question, but few are honest enough to
say it out loud.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>You see, my dear
Virginia, “privilege” doesn’t come from race.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>In most cases it comes from the manner of our upbringing, which – by and
large – is defined by the norms of our culture:<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>our attitudes towards sex, family, education, work, respect for the law,
etc., etc., etc.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Children tend to have
the best shot at success when they grow up with two loving, involved parents
who are good role models, economic stability, a safe and strong community, commitment
to education, belief in personal responsibility and the goal of economic
security by learning a trade or profession.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>This type of <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>upbringing does not
guarantee success. Nothing can do that.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>But, it sure helps.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Generally
speaking white children are more likely than black children to grow up in something
resembling this environment, but expressing this out loud is considered blasphemy
to those for whom the truth is, well…, inconvenient to other agendas.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Better to blame “white privilege” than to risk
the backlash of the black community and liberal politicians who don’t want their
own culpability to come into question.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>If
there is “white privilege” no one will look to the black community to fix
itself. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>“White privilege” is easy and potentially
lucrative.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Self-examination is uncomfortable
and requires patience and honesty. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Does this
mean that there’s absolutely no such thing as “white privilege?”<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Actually, yes, because the term “white privilege”
suggests a benefit that is <b>universal</b> to the white race, and yet I just
easily demonstrated to you that, <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>based
upon easily observable realities, there is no such thing as universal
race-based “privilege.”<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Ever wonder how
we went from talking about “racial discrimination” to talking about “white
privilege (kind of like how we went from talking about “global warming” to “climate
change”)?”<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>If you think that was an
accident, then you’re very naïve.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Nothing is accidental when it involves the “woke” agendas of leftists
and race agitators.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><b><i>Nothing</i></b>.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>“Racial discrimination” put the target on the
<i>act</i> of discriminating.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It was
more objective and easier to quantify.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>That
was problematic because discrimination can be (and was) outlawed.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But “white privilege” assigns a blanket of
guilt to an entire race. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>You can stop discriminating.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>You can’t stop being white.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So the problem can never be resolved, which
makes it a very valuable political weapon that can be wielded in perpetuity.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Are you beginning to understand yet?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">“But!” you object,
“I’m a middle-class white person and I believe in white privilege.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>How does that fit your theory when I have
nothing to gain from reparations?”<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Oh, that’s
easy.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>If you’re white and you still buy into
the “white privilege” canard despite the logic I cited above, then this means
you’re a liberal or a leftist, and what you gain from jumping on the “white
privilege” bandwagon is gratification of your liberal/leftist ego.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>You’re now in the “woke” club, chastising the
sins of your own kind (smugly knowing, of course, that the sin does not apply
to <i>you</i>) and feeling self-righteous about your own superiority.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Oh yes, that kind of gratification is better
than gold to a liberal or leftist.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Racism
exists, as does sexism and ageism and a lot of other isms.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It will never be eradicated because it is natural
to humans – in a wide range of varying degrees – to feel more comfortable
around those who look like us, generally speaking.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>White people tend to have white friends.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Black people tend to have black friends.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We gravitate towards those we can relate to
because of shared experiences.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I’m not
excusing <i>real</i> racism but never will I join the throngs of white
apologists who so desperately want to be lauded as “woke” that they are eagerly
becoming part of The Great Lie. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Broad,
systemic attitudes towards other races are based on stereotypes, and
stereotypes are <i>often</i> rooted in <i>some</i> truth.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In the U.S., blacks commit murder at nearly
eight times the rate of whites.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>That’s a
fact according to the FBI.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Every week or
so there’s a news report about the number of people shot and/or killed on the
streets of Chicago.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Almost always the
victims are black.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Almost always the
shooters are black. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It is UNREASONABLE
to require the world to pretend not to see the reality (never mind that so many
do), but that is what is demanded of us.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>And yet on the other side, a small fraction of our nation’s cops do detestable
things, and not only are <i>all</i> cops under indictment but our entire nation
is condemned as inherently racist. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Pot,
meet kettle….<o:p></o:p></span></div>

very helpful to the Left that Americans have been trained to believe that as

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">First, let’s
understand something about the relationship between anger and frustration.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Frustration, <i>“a deep chronic sense or
state of insecurity and dissatisfaction arising from unresolved problems or
unfulfilled needs,”</i> leads to anger.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Consider the example of the child who is treated differently from a favored
sibling, i.e., held to a higher standard of behavior, punished for behaviors
that the favored child is allowed to get away with, deprived of nice things
that are offered to the favored child.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Imagine
that child’s frustration due to his impotence over his situation.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>What kind of feelings do you suppose this
engenders in the mistreated child towards the favored sibling?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>One would imagine that he must harbor great
resentment, especially if the favored child wallows in the favoritism and is
indifferent to his sibling’s pain.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Who
is ultimately responsible for the child’s frustration and anger?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>“The parents” is the logical answer.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>They are the ones who have created this sick
situation over which the child has no control, and that responsibility doesn’t shift
if an outside observer points out to the mistreated child that he has every
reason to be angry.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Now let’s
look at who is responsible for the sick situation of illegal immigration in
this nation that has frustrated <a href="https://thehill.com/latino/441296-poll-80-percent-say-illegal-immigration-at-southern-border-is-a-crisis-or-serious">most</a> Americans.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">The ILLEGAL
immigration problem in this country has been continuously worsening since after
WWII, when labor shortages (real or perceived) led millions of Mexican workers
to come to the U.S., some illegally and some on temporary work permits.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>When the <i><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immigration_and_Nationality_Act_of_1965#Legislative_history">Immigration
and Nationality Act of 1965</a></i> was passed and led to a wave of <i>legal</i>
immigration as well as a huge shift in the origins of immigrants, the U.S. put
a halt to the temporary worker permits for Mexican laborers, but migrants in
search of work continued to come illegally.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>We all know that the growing problem of illegal immigration ultimately
led to the <i><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immigration_Reform_and_Control_Act_of_1986">Immigration
Reform and Control Act of 1986</a></i> under which Ronald Reagan, in a deal with
the devil (Ted Kennedy) infamously granted amnesty for nearly three million
illegal immigrants. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Thus began the age
of the Left’s recognition of the value of immigration as a political weapon and
as a source of division among Americans that proved helpful to Team Democrat.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The power to frustrate conservatives is an
intoxicating drug to the Left; consequently, in the pursuant years they have added
fuel to our frustration by heaping one reward after another onto those who trespass
here.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We are forced by law to educate
the children of those who trespass here illegally, and the doors of our hospitals
must be opened to illegals, regardless of how it increases the cost – or the wait
– for those of us who pay the bills; if illegals commit crimes or their children
become <a href="https://www.city-journal.org/html/immigrant-gang-plague-12801.html">gang
members</a> who threaten the safety of Americans, that’s too bad.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Then came
the Left’s typical sly strategy of linguistic slight-of-hand.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The illegals have become the “<a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/npr-apologizes-for-calling-illegal-immigrants-illegal">undocumented</a>.”<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>This is supposed to make us forget that we
are talking about criminals - people who disrespect our sovereignty, ignore our
laws and take advantage of us.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And because
the Left is enjoying our frustration so much, they will show us who’s boss by
declaring our cities to be places of “<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/los-angeles-officially-declares-itself-a-sanctuary-city">sanctuary</a>”
for illegals, reject any attempt to <a href="https://noborderwalls.org/">secure</a>
our borders, give <a href="http://www.ncsl.org/research/immigration/states-offering-driver-s-licenses-to-immigrants.aspx">driver’s
licenses</a> to illegals, allow illegals to <a href="https://jacobinmag.com/2018/11/noncitizen-voting-undocumented-immigrants-midterm-elections">vote</a>
in our elections, denounce the men and women who enforce our borders, and <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2019/06/27/all_dem_candidates_raise_hand_when_asked_if_illegal_immigrants_should_get_health_care_coverage_at_debate.html">suggest</a>
that illegals, too, will get “free” healthcare under their socialist schemes.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Though we have been told for more than a
decade that the illegal population here is “11 million,” a <a href="https://thehill.com/latino/407848-yale-mit-study-22-million-not-11-million-undocumented-immigrants-in-us">joint
study</a> last year by researchers at Yale and MIT estimated the actual figure
to likely be in excess of 22 million, or almost twice what the MSM has been
deceitfully reporting for more than a decade; yet we cannot ascertain what the
truth is because leftist groups like the ACLU, using our own courts against us,
won’t allow it.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Yet it is
Donald Trump, we are told, who is to blame for the anger that ravaged El Paso,
because Trump dared to object out loud to what has happened in this
country.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>If the source of the shooter’s
anger is to blame for his heinous act, then I’ll let you be the judge of who has created the conditions for that anger.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

Report in carefully choreographed coordination and projecting their poster boards

convicted of murdering his wife.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>When he
fortuitously gets a chance to escape, he takes it, and then he sets about
trying to evade the clutches of “justice” while he embarks on a mission to find
the real killer.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And since this is the movies,
Harrison does indeed discover and expose the real killer, and to the great
satisfaction of the audience his exoneration and freedom are assumed.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But again, this is the movies, where people appreciate
and understand justice because there is nothing at stake for <i>them</i>.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></div>

life and the sad realities of human nature.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>While Democrats were rabidly focused on obstruction, none of them seemed
the least bit concerned or curious as to whether justice had been properly pursued.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>While Republicans commendably pelted Robert
Mueller with great questions about the nefarious origins of the investigation
and the undeniably biased team that he assembled in pursuit of “justice,” Democrats
were true to form in their absence of curiosity about those pesky details.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Nor did they share Republicans’ justified outrage
at Mueller’s invention of the “not exonerated” standard that flies in the face
of the American system of justice under which people are presumed innocent
unless proven guilty, not guilty until proven innocent as Mueller cunningly
implied.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Only one side seemed interested
in establishing whether or not the “justice” side of the equation had been
satisfied, and it wasn’t the Democrats; yet without justice there can be no <i>obstruction
of justice</i>.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I challenge anyone to
argue otherwise.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"> </span></div>

the blogosphere are angrily demanding to know why Trump supporters aren’t outraged
by the efforts of Trump et al to impede or stop the Mueller investigation.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I would suggest that they watch one of those
great old movies where an innocent person is being railroaded by corrupt people
in the system:<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>the lazy sheriff, the
lying witnesses, the prosecutor who just wants another notch on his belt and
the judge who’s on the take.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>When you

fantasies to justify their thuggery is simply this: a manifestation of their contempt for their
fellow citizens and a rejection of a system of government that gives anyone but
them the right to decide how things will be.
“Hate” is a conveniently subjective term that the Left has latched onto
for this very reason. They can define it
any way they want….any way that justifies their egregious and tyrannical
behavior. The bottom line is this: they want power and control and they want it
now. They don’t recognize any opposition

<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">~This report brought to you by Pesky Truth
reporter, CW.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">In a
history-making move, a turnip has just become the 23rd Democratic presidential
hopeful, announcing his/her decision today to join the vast field of 2020
candidates vying for voters’ attention.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>The turnip, who goes by the name “Turnip,” was born and raised on a farm
in rural Wisconsin and promises to bring a unique perspective to the race
according to campaign staffers who interpret for the voiceless candidate but
who prefer to remain anonymous.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>According to our investigative sources, the turnip’s campaign is being
heavily funded by a mysterious non-profit, Root Vegetables for Democracy, which
in turn is overseen by The Society of Open Vegetables, a subsidiary of The
Voice of Vegetables Project, which is said to be quietly funded by a
Hungarian-born billionaire.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Within just
hours of its announcement, the campaign had sold millions of “Turnip for 2020”
t-shirts and without uttering a single word the turnip had surpassed 21 of the
previously declared candidates to become second only to candidate Joe Biden.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Experts say that Biden will have his work cut
out for him to match the excitement that Turnip brings to the campaign and to
stay ahead of Turnip as campaign donations are flooding in at a record
pace.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Many Democrats, it seems, are
anxious to be part of the Turnip revolution.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Naturally
this leads to questions and concerns as to how the turnip might fare against
Donald Trump.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Not to worry, say the
experts!<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>“It’s all in the marketing,”
insists a top Democrat strategist.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>“You
cannot overstate the ease with which Democrat voters love to idolize anything
seen as kind of being, well…out there, even if the leadership skills are
questionable.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>While other voters might
dismiss a mindless vegetable out of hand, Democrats believe their tolerance for
diversity demonstrates how much more open-minded they are, so I think the
turnip has a respectable shot.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>

destruction to our cultural identity (as well as a <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">long</i> list of other problems) are no different than bad parents who
let their children hang with the “wrong crowds” so that those parents can be free
to pursue their own selfish interests.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Anyone who can’t stand back and see this destructive “policy” on
immigration for the declaration of war that it is is a complete fool and a foot
soldier in the Left’s army of useful idiots.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Democrats are using their power to block any sane response to illegal
immigration purely for their own selfish political interests (i.e. to deny a “win”
to Donald Trump), and in doing so they are no different than those who bomb and
burn and otherwise destroy to get their way.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>The only difference is that their destruction won’t be seen – <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">really</i> seen – for years to come, and it
will be far worse.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Buildings can be rebuilt,
but once the soul of a nation is destroyed good luck <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">ever</i> getting it back.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<h3>
"I believe history will look back on four years of this
president and all he embraces as an abhorrent moment in time," Biden said.</h3>

So now it’s “abhorrent” to secure our borders against an
ongoing invasion from uninvited people and to restore American prosperity and economic

<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">It took six
months of partisan delays — and several railroad accidents — before Democrats
let the Senate confirm a federal railroad administrator, even though none of
them actually voted against the nominee in the end.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It’s been 354 days and counting in Senate
purgatory for the president’s nominee to head the National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration. Two-hundred eighty-seven days and counting for the under
secretary of state for management. Noncontroversial lower court nominees have
languished for weeks and weeks — for no discernible reason — before they, too,
were confirmed unanimously. These are just a few examples of the historic
obstruction Senate Democrats have visited upon President Trump’s nominees for
two years and counting.</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Since
January 2017, for the first time in memory, a minority has exploited procedure
to systematically obstruct a president from staffing up his administration.
This new, across-the-board obstruction is unfair to the president and, more
importantly, to the American people. Left unchecked, it is guaranteed to create
an unsustainable precedent that would see every future presidency of either
party obstructed in the same mindless way.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>The Senate needs to restore normalcy. And this week, we will vote to do
just that.</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Every
presidential election since John Adams beat Thomas Jefferson in 1796 has
undoubtedly left some senators disappointed. But never before has the unhappy
side then built a systematic effort to keep the new president's administration
unstaffed.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We aren’t talking about
limited opposition to a few high-profile nominees or unusual circumstances.
It’s mindless, undiscriminating obstruction for the sake of obstruction. Even
uncontroversial lower-level nominees whom literally no senators oppose are not
spared.</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Across the
first two years of each of the six presidents preceding President Trump, the
Senate only had to hold 24 total cloture votes on nominations. That’s the
once-rare procedural step that unlocks an up-or-down confirmation vote even
though a minority has sought to block it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>And in President Trump’s first two years? We had to hold a stunning 128
cloture votes to advance nominations. Our Democratic colleagues made the Senate
jump over five times as many hurdles as in the equivalent periods in the Carter,
Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations combined.</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Because of
this obstruction, the Senate’s progress in filling important executive branch
positions has been insufficient. Crucial jobs are still being held empty out of
political spite. More nominees whom I suspect would be confirmed without
opposition are still being delayed indefinitely because our colleagues cannot
finish grieving their loss in 2016.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The
all-encompassing, systematic nature of this obstruction is not part of the
Senate’s important tradition of minority rights. It is a new departure from
that tradition. And this break with tradition is hurting the Senate,
hamstringing our duly elected president, and denying citizens the government
they elected.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Moreover, if we let this
partisan paralysis continue, it will define a new norm for the future. It’s
hard to imagine any future presidency of either party would be spared.</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">We can’t
accept this. We need to stop this bizarre, new practice. We need to rebuild a
nominations process that resembles the way things worked for more than two
centuries.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Fortunately, the recent past
provides a path forward.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In January
2013, as President Obama began his second term, I and many other Senate
Republicans joined with Democrats to enact bipartisan reform of our nominations
rules.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Republicans certainly weren’t
thrilled with the election result. But instead of throwing a systematic
tantrum, we acknowledged that the president should be able to build a
government at a reasonable pace.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The
measure, pushed by then-Democratic Leader Harry Reid and the current Democratic
Leader Senator Chuck Schumer, sped up consideration of lower-tier nominations
without changing the procedure for nominations to the Supreme Court, the
circuit courts, or Cabinet-level executive positions. It helped us get
lower-tier nominees out of Senate purgatory and into their roles without
touching the most consequential vacancies.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>It was a big step toward restoring Senate tradition. Even with a
Democratic president, many Republicans still thought it was the right thing to
do. The resolution got 78 votes.</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">These modest
changes helped. But they only applied for the Congress in which they were
enacted. And the need is much more urgent today.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>That’s why, this week, the Senate will vote
on a proposal to recreate similar, modest steps and make them permanent going
forward.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Our proposal would only reduce
the time a minority can keep delaying lower-tier nominations after a majority
has invoked cloture. This would keep the Senate floor moving, saving time that
is currently tied up in inoffensive nominations that senators don’t even really
debate. And, at last, it would let President Trump fill important vacancies at
a more reasonable pace.</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Democrats
overwhelmingly supported changes like these in 2013 when they helped President
Obama. And privately, many of our Democratic colleagues tell us they’d be happy
to support this new proposal, too — as long as we postpone its effective date
until January 2021, when they hope there will be a Democrat occupying the White
House.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Give me a break. A rules change
is either a good idea or it isn’t. The answer cannot depend on whether you like
the current occupant of the White House. Simple fairness dictates that there
cannot be protections in place for Democratic </span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">administrations past and future
that magically skip over Republican presidents. And this is especially true
under the current extraordinary circumstances Senate Democrats have created.</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">The status
quo is unfair, unhealthy, and unsustainable. This president and all future
presidents deserve a more functional process for building their
administrations.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Later this week, every
senator will have the chance to vote for these common-sense changes. I
sincerely hope that, as in 2013, the Senate can make these reforms through
bipartisan regular order. Because the current situation cannot stand — and it
won’t.</span></blockquote>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">A federal
judge in Texas recently ruled that Obamacare is unconstitutional due to its
mandate requiring Americans to buy health insurance, and the Trump
administration has decided not to defend the law, reigniting the “repeal and
replace” battle lost by the Republicans following Trump’s election.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Speaking on the decision not to defend the
law, Trump has declared that Republicans will become “the party of healthcare,”
and while I am shaking my head in dismay, Barack Obama must be smiling to
himself, because he knows that even if Democrats lose the battle over Obamacare,
they will have won the war to make the federal government (and therefore
taxpayers) ultimately responsible for healthcare.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Obamacare
was nothing more than a wealth-transfer scheme in which taxpayers were forced
to subsidize health insurance for people who supposedly couldn’t afford it on
their own.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I say supposedly because whether
or not someone can “afford” something is a complicated question that requires a
study of what choices they’ve made in life, and an assessment of whether or not
they’re doing anything and everything they should be doing to assume full
responsibility for themselves and their families.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Nothing like that happens in Obamacare or in
any welfare program run by the geniuses managing our federal government.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The war fought by Obama and Democrats wasn’t
over Obamacare, per se.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It was over whether
it is the proper role of the federal government to ensure that all Americans
have healthcare.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I am not 100% clear on
what Trump means when he says Republicans will be “the party of healthcare,” but
it’s difficult to see how that label restores the power of the people to be
free of the federal government’s interference in our healthcare and in our
wallets.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I’ve written
on this subject so many times that I feel like a broken record.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">only</i>
role the federal government legitimately has with respect to health insurance
and healthcare is to ensure a free and fair marketplace. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>To that end we should be pursuing tort reform,
reducing the regulatory burden and paperwork mandates associated with
healthcare, getting rid of barriers to competition and legislating transparency
in healthcare pricing.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The federal
government made sure that we know how many calories are in that cheeseburger we
just ordered, but good luck finding out how many thousands of dollars that
surgery is going to cost you.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>A friend
of mine was recently injured when her car was rear-ended.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Her medical bills are now close to $300,000
and she’s not done with her treatment.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Everyone, myself included, has a story about the outrageous medical bill
they received for something.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Democrats
and Obamacare did NOTHING to address the immoral scam that has become our
health industry.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Instead they just found
a way to pass the bill to someone else – hard-working, tax-paying strangers who
have zero control over the health habits of the people they’ve been forced to
subsidize.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>That’s not only wrong, it
continues our slide towards economic suicide.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>If we could only have the good sense to take the steps that would
restore rational, competitive pricing to healthcare, then it wouldn’t seem so
crazy to make every capable citizen responsible for paying his own bills. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>What a novel idea, eh?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">What do you
do when the realities of the world don’t conform to your pre-formed prejudices
and desires for shaping the world around you?
Well if you’re an honest and reasonable person, you re-adjust your
prejudices and desires according to reality.
But if you’re a leftist bent on an agenda that isn’t served by reality, it’s
the other way around; you simply invent
your own reality to conform to your prejudices, or as <a href="https://www.insidernj.com/booker-ford-came-tell-truth/">Cory ‘Spartacus’
Booker</a> and other leftists like to put it nowadays, you define your <i>own</i> <i>truth</i>. When you have the luxury of your own truth
you’re spared from engaging in thoughtful debate or justifying your actions, and
the real world is no longer an obstacle to your schemes and ignoble ambitions. Anything is possible if you conjure up an
alternate universe, and if you can persuade others to pretend along with you. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Alternate Reality
has long been one prong of the Left’s many strategies for forcing its agenda on
this nation, but since the election of Barack Obama, who showed the Left the
art of how it is done, it has been elevated to center stage. Obama campaigned on the <a href="https://www.aei.org/publication/a-crisis-caused-by-housing-policies-not-lack-of-regulation/">myth</a>
that the economic recession that started in 2008 was entirely the fault of
George W. Bush and Republicans. I can’t
recall anyone ever asking Obama to defend his reasoning for such a claim. Instead, the media talked about thrills up
their legs and laughed along with him when he adopted his phony, folksy accent
and pushed his pretend broom around the stage to “clean up the messes” supposedly
left just by the Republicans. And so the
myth was born and it became the Left’s alt-reality that Bush and the
Republicans destroyed the economy and Obama rode in on his white horse and
rescued us. That constitutes “their truth”
in the Left’s make-believe universe.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Obama was
central to advancing the faux reality that man-made “climate change” is a
proven fact, because the clever leftists know that the more you evade debate
and speak as though something is a fact, the more <i>some</i> people will accept it as fact and ignore any evidence to the
contrary. Obama unilaterally declared
the debate to be <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64n8WZdk-qQ">over</a>,
citing the <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexepstein/2015/01/06/97-of-climate-scientists-agree-is-100-wrong/#4f4206f33f9f">falsehood</a>
that 97% of climate scientists agree, and any <a href="http://climatechangereconsidered.org/reviews-of-why-scientists-disagree/">dissent</a>
by people far more educated on climate science than Obama has no place in the
faux reality. And now, of course, the
world is doomed in <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/426353-ocasio-cortez-the-world-will-end-in-12-years-if-we-dont-address">twelve
short years</a> (according to the truth of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) which is

aggressive policing were parlayed into a phony narrative of widespread,
systematic racism and oppression running rampant in our police forces and all
through American society. The <i>reality</i>, according to an <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2019/02/07/nfls_kaepernick_still_calls_criminal_justice_system_racist_--_despite_reform_action_and_lack_of_evidence_139391.html">article </a>written

doubts the existence of bad cops or of cops who make poor decisions or who use
poor judgement. But where's the evidence of "systemic" racism? When
black Harvard economist Roland Fryer conducted a 2016 study of police use of
force, he expected to find widespread evidence of police officers
disproportionately using deadly force against blacks. Instead, he found the
opposite. Police, he concluded, were more hesitant to use deadly force
against blacks than against whites. "It is," he admitted, "the
most surprising result of my career." This tracks another study published
in 2014 by researchers at Washington State University, who reached the same
conclusion, finding "there was significant bias favoring [emphasis

the Manhattan Institute's Heather Mac Donald: "In 2016, the police fatally
shot 233 blacks, the vast majority armed and dangerous, according to The
Washington Post. The paper categorized only 16 black male victims of police
shootings as 'unarmed.' That classification masks assaults against officers and
violent resistance to arrest. Contrary to the Black Lives Matter narrative, the
police have much more to fear from black males than black males have to fear
from the police. ... Black males have made up 42 percent of all cop-killers

commenters on Fox News articles, especially those relating to Trump, love to

credibility; but with the Mueller report now released and no evidence of collusion
found, it turns out that Fox’s coverage was far more in keeping with the truth
than their beloved “mainstream” news outlets which fed the Left’s need for
validation of what they <i>wanted</i> the
truth to be. Will that change their
opinion of Fox? I doubt it, because –
for its own selfish purposes - the Left has spawned a culture that no longer
cares what is real and what isn’t. To
understand the destructiveness of this mindset, consider how the refusal to
face reality would impact someone’s personal life. If you refuse to face the truth about poor
financial decisions, a bad spouse, a child in need of help or behaviors that
destroy one’s health, how does denying reality serve your life in the long
run? It NEVER ends well, and it won’t
end well for this nation, but the Left’s elites who mastermind alternate
realities don’t care about the future of the country or about their fellow
citizens. They care only about their own
grasp on power. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

conviction and the death penalty, <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>but I
ought to be used to it by now.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>How many
of our laws, named for the predictable victims of predictable crimes, are born
as a consequence of a liberal’s stunned discovery that they too can be a
victim?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Too much thinking in the
abstract and not enough putting yourself in someone else’s shoes, just like we
see with the Left’s nonchalant attitude towards the victims of illegals.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>That said, it’s no surprise to me whatsoever
that, having had his epiphany about executing “innocent” people who are on

every 25 people on death row is innocent, it might occur to me that there is
something seriously wrong with our justice system that requires immediate
investigation, because our multi-layered appeals system is supposed to be the
fail-safe against wrongful convictions, right?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>If everyone is doing their job appropriately and with integrity, there
should be virtually NO innocent people sitting on death row after all appeals
have been exhausted.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>How is it possible
that this isn’t the case?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>If Gavin
Newsom truly believes that 4% of the people on death row are innocent, then he
must also believe that our appeals system is broken, and yet in his “emotional”
proclamation against the death penalty he proposes to do nothing about it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>No help will be coming for the “1 in 25
innocent people” who are languishing in prison because Gavin Newsom thinks his
job is done by sparing them from the death penalty.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>This is the Left’s idea of what it means to

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">So what
could Newsom do?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>As someone keenly
interested in the subject of crime and punishment, I’ve seen dozens of cases
where people have been wrongfully convicted, though how many are on death row
is a separate question (more on that later).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>In nearly every case the system failed due to either human error or corruption.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The correction for that is surprisingly
simple and yet agonizingly absent.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It’s
called “A-C-C-O-U-N-T-A-B-I-L-I-T-Y.”<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Every</i> case of wrongful conviction should
be thoroughly studied to determine what went wrong, and if there were mistakes
or wrongdoing those responsible should be held to account by losing their jobs,
their licenses or by legal punishment if that’s appropriate.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But we don’t live in an age of consistent accountability.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Nowadays, when convictions are overturned due
to mistakes and malfeasance, the victims are compensated by large payouts from
other innocents:<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>the taxpayers; and all
too often the inept and corrupt keep doing what they do.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Where is Gavin Newsom’s outrage about <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">that</i>?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>He has no outrage because he’s a voluntary player in that very system.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Do I believe
1 in 25 people on <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">death row</i> are wrongfully
convicted?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Actually, no – not on death
row.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>That’s because I believe
prosecutors tend not to seek the death penalty unless they have a mountain of damning
evidence and because the system is weighted in favor of the accused.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>That doesn’t mean it never happens, but I believe
that it’s exceptionally rare, especially in these days of modern science.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But what I believe is irrelevant to my
criticism of Gavin Newsom, because his claim is that <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">he</i> believes 4% of people on death row are wrongfully convicted.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">By the way, I
am a proponent of the death penalty because it’s what some people deserve.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We shouldn’t have to indefinitely feed, clothe
and house people who disregard the rights of others and kill for greed and
pleasure.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>They voluntarily forfeited
their rights to live, in my humble opinion.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>But I do believe that wrongful convictions do occur and are a blight on
us as a society, and what people need to understand is that there’s no contradiction
in supporting the death penalty if you <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">also</i>
adhere to the principle that holding people accountable for their actions keeps
the system working as it was intended so that “justice” really means justice.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

really two questions involved in the decision about emergency funding. First,
does statutory law allow for the president’s emergency orders, and, second,
does the Constitution permit these emergency orders?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>As far as the statute goes, the answer is
maybe — although no president has previously used emergency powers to spend
money denied by Congress, and it was clearly not intended to do that.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But there is a much larger question: the
question of whether or not this power and therefore this action are
constitutional. With regard to the Constitution, the Supreme Court made it very
clear in Youngstown Steel in 1952, in a case that is being closely reexamined
in the discussion of executive power.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In
Youngstown, the Court ruled that there are three kinds of executive order:
orders that carry out an expressly voiced congressional position, orders where
Congress’ will is unclear, and, finally, orders clearly opposed to the will of
Congress.</span></span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="background-color: #ffe599; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;">To my mind,
like it or not, we had this conversation.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>In fact, the government was shut down in a public battle over how much
money would be spent on the wall and border security.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It ended with a deal that Congress passed and
the president signed into law, thus determining the amount.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Congress clearly expressed its will not to
spend more than $1.3 billion and to restrict how much of that money could go to
barriers.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Therefore, President Trump’s
emergency order is clearly in opposition to the will of Congress.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Moreover, the broad principle of separation
of powers in the Constitution delegates the power of the purse to
Congress.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>This turns that principle on
its head.</span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="background-color: #ffe599;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I, and many
of my fellow members, called out President Obama for abusing executive authority.
President Obama famously said that if Congress wouldn’t do what he wanted, he
had his pen and his phone ready.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>That
was wrong.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Many of those voting now
spent a good portion of their campaigns running ads against these words and
actions of President Obama.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>They will
and should be condemned for hypocrisy if they vote to allow this because they
want the policy or want to stand with the president in a partisan fight.<br /> </span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Some are
attempting to say that there isn’t a good analogy between President Obama’s orders
or the Youngstown case. I disagree. Not only are the issues similar, but I
think Youngstown Steel implications are even more profound in the case of
emergency appropriations. We spent the last two months debating how much money
should be spent on a wall, and Congress came to a clear conclusion: $1.3
billion. Without question, the president’s order for more wall money
contradicts the will of Congress and will, in all likelihood, be struck down by
the Supreme Court.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In fact, I think the
president’s own picks to the Supreme Court may rebuke him on this.</span></span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="background-color: #ffe599; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;">Regardless,
I must vote how my principles dictate. My oath is to the Constitution, not to
any man or political party. I stand with the president often, and I do so with
a loud voice. Today, I think he’s wrong, not on policy, but in seeking to
expand the powers of the presidency beyond their constitutional limits. I
understand his frustration. Dealing with Congress can be pretty difficult
sometimes. But Congress appropriates money, and his only constitutional
recourse, if he does not like the amount they appropriate, is to veto the bill.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I look forward to working for a
constitutional way to deal with our border security issue.</span></blockquote>

congress that has made no secret of the fact that their actions are solely
motivated by “resistance” to Donald Trump.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>The definitive proof of this is that the very same members of congress
who refuse to give this president the requested money for the border wall were
fine and dandy with giving Barack Obama money for erecting walls at the border
when Obama was POTUS.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The facts belie
Democrats’ phony claims about walls being “immoral” or that “walls don’t work;”
their blatant, spite-based use of our tax dollars as political weaponry is
absolutely not how our government was intended to work, and it’s precisely why
we have a crises at our border that’s led to a frustrated president’s

Republican majority’s objections to DACA were consistent with their
long-standing platform against illegal immigration.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>At no time could anyone have ever made the

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">First let me
clarify that when I refer to “liberalism” I am lumping together liberals,
leftists, “progressives,” socialists and “democratic socialists.”<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In the future I’m sure we’ll have to add more
terms as those on the Left adopt yet more labels to avoid being tainted with
the stink that becomes inevitably associated with their most recent label, but
for the time being – and for ease of understanding – I’ll just lump them all under
“liberalism.” <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">What is
liberalism, really?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Forget your dictionary
definitions.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Those haven’t been
applicable for perhaps a century now, so let’s talk about reality.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Liberalism is a mentality.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It is a culture unto itself, quite distinct from
Americanism, which Merriam-Webster’s defines as, <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">“attachment or allegiance to the traditions, interests, or ideals of
the U.S.”</i><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Any assertion that today’s
liberals have any “attachment or allegiance to the traditions, interests, or
ideals of the U.S.” is laughable, to say the least.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">In my humble
opinion there are two elements that distinguish liberals from other
Americans.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The first is a shared
immersion in adolescent thinking and behavior, a.k.a. the infamous “mental
disorder of liberalism” that conservatives have long paid witness to.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The evidence is overwhelming.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We’re talking about adults who can’t grasp or
won’t honor simple tenets of fairness, such as due process, as we saw during
the Kavanaugh hearings farce, because liberals have no appreciation for what it
means to the country to preserve that sacred tenet.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>They cannot resist the impulse to follow what
serves their own interests in the moment, regardless of what it means for
themselves and <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">everyone</i> <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">else</i> in the long term, just like a child
who runs into a busy street to chase a ball.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Like
children, liberals don’t engage in thoughtful debate.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Instead they play word games, they simply declare
themselves the winner (Barack Obama:<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">“The debate is over!”</i>), and they gang up
on people like schoolyard bullies (just ask the kids of Covington Catholic).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>They behave like high-schoolers in social cliques,
ridiculing and ostracizing those who dare to be different, as when they marginalize
anyone who challenges their beliefs on climate change and label them as “deniers”
rather than respond respectfully to legitimate concerns and criticisms.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">The culture
of liberalism has intensified in recent years following the election of Barack
Obama, due to cleverly subtle messaging that has emboldened the Left and shown
them that there is little consequence to openly spitting on the basic rules of
our democracy.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It has become
increasingly acceptable to engage in tantrums and violence when a liberal doesn’t
get his way.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>That’s what Antifa is all
about, their laughable claims of fighting “fascism” notwithstanding. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Anymore it is an everyday occurrence to see <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/woman-who-attacked-man-wearing-maga-hat-was-illegal-immigrant-taken-into-ice-custody">news
stories</a> of people attacking others in restaurants – and feeling perfectly
entitled to do so - or behaving outrageously on airplanes, with no regard for the
harm or inconvenience to everyone else.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>The epidemic of selfishness and self-centeredness is mindboggling. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The hostility and aggression are alarming.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And it’s all part of today’s culture of
liberalism.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Then there
is the ease with which liberals are persuaded to blindly embrace any cause that
promises to gratify their insatiable need for attention and superiority, whether
it be “climate change,” #MeToo, Colin Kaepernick’s anti-flag silliness, and
whatever latest nonsense is being drummed into their impressionable brains by
the leftists who now run our schools, universities and news media.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I could fill a tome with example after
example to demonstrate how liberalism has turned adults into perpetual
adolescents (and bratty ones at that), but to speed things up let me sum it up in
three words:<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></b></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></b></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">No one personifies
liberalism’s further regression into infantilism better than this ceaselessly-yapping,
cartoon character whose hubris knows no bounds.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>The 29-year old democratic socialist possesses the typical leftist’s
arrogance of believing that she’s smarter than anyone else who’s ever existed, as
evidenced by her constant scolding and lecturing of those who have achieved far
more in life than she has.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Her wisdom is
superior to the brilliant men who authored this nation’s Constitution.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>She knows more than tested economists.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And she’s smarter than all the PhD’s who dispute
the so-called “consensus” opinion of the oh-so-conveniently-named bogeyman, “climate
change.” <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But isn’t that often the case
with children, that despite having little life experience of their own, they always
know better than the adults?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>AOC is
going to solve all of this country’s problems by simply tearing up the Constitution
and handing out free money that she thinks she can rightfully take from
whomever she pleases.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>She is too dumb,
the way a small child or an animal is dumb, to consider that all of these ideas
she believes she’s discovered have long been tried, failed and rejected.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>She thinks <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">she</i> can stick her hand in the fire and not get burned, because that’s
how special she is.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>That is the
mentality of liberalism.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">The second
distinguishing characteristic of the culture of liberalism is the complete absence
of any deeply held commitment to overarching principles.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Liberals like the protection of free speech,
but only when the protection applies just to <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">them</i>, as evidenced by their repeated refusals to let conservatives
be heard on college campuses and elsewhere.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>They like due process, but only when it applies just to <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">them</i> (just ask Jussie Smollett, but
first ask Brett Kavanaugh).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Bill Clinton
did not need to set a moral example when he was president, but now Donald Trump
does.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>They are either obnoxiously gleeful
or completely unphased at the unequal application of law for Hillary Clinton et
al vs. Donald Trump et al. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Ditto for the
media’s rampant bias for Obama (favorably) vs. Trump (negatively). <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>They swear on the Bible to uphold the
Constitution, then spend their political careers trying to circumvent it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Truth - a necessary element for a healthy
society – only matters when it furthers their agenda.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>They reject the principles of personal
responsibility, and their cynical devotion to identity politics belies their phony
claims of wanting <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">“equality for all.”</i><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I really cannot think of a single principle
sincerely held by liberals that their own actions do not negate.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">So what we
have now is a dangerously festering subculture of Americans with a child’s
selfishness, absence of conscience and disconnection from moral principles; and
yet these children can vote and hold powerful positions within our government.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>America is truly in a scary place right now,
and it will remain so and get much worse unless and until we can rid ourselves
of the culture of liberalism. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Given all
of the safety nets the Left has devised to ensure the culture stays alive, that’s
going to require a miracle.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Let’s hope
that miracle comes in the form of the Left’s own arrogance.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I was flipping through an old (June 2005) issue of Architectural
Digest today when I came across a fascinating article on a property owned by billionaire
Democrat, Ted Turner.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Although the writer,
Nancy Collins, coos about the “25 properties” billionaire Turner had amassed around
the world, this particular piece was about Vermejo Park Ranch, a 591,000-acre “spectacular”
spread of land in New Mexico purchased by billionaire Turner.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">“As far as I know,
Vermejo is the largest contiguous piece of private land in the United States,”</i>
boasted billionaire Turner, who was interviewed alongside his ex-wife, the radical
leftist, Jane Fonda.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">“If it hadn’t been for
Ted, the land would’ve been chopped up and sold off,”</i> the leftist Fonda proudly
chirped.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
As I pondered Fonda’s evident relief that billionaire Turner’s
massive acquisition had rescued this great piece of land from the trajedy of being
divided into the dirty clutches of less-deserving, non-billionaires, I couldn’t
help but wonder how this sniffy celebration of private land ownership squares
with the Left’s usual insistence on preserving <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">public</i> lands for the enjoyment of all (though always at the expense
of taxpayers or <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">other</i> land owners, naturally).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Had billionaire Turner not swooped in and
hoarded all this land and beauty for himself, the land might have been divided
into smaller parcels for people of lesser means willing to settle for a small
slice of heaven as well as to entrepreneurs hoping to share in some of the same
economic benefits that billionaire Turner and his pampered ex-wife – the leftist
Jane Fonda – enjoy.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But no, this mustn’t
be allowed.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Lowly commoners don’t know how
to properly take care of the land.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>They
aren’t capable of appreciating its beauty and its bounty the way elites like billionaire
Turner and leftist Fonda do.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">“All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.” – Animal Farm

<div class="MsoNormal">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><br /></i></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">“Fortunately, America’s
most notorious cowboy rode in and saved the day…”</i> drooled Ms. Collins (whether
or not Ms. Collins understands the terms “notorious” and “cowboy” is a question
yet to be determined)<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">…turning Vermejo
into a mecca of ‘recreational opportunities for sportsmen who, though they can’t
afford a ranch of their own,’</i> explains [billionaire] Turner, <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">‘can afford a week here.’”</i><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><br /></i></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Billionaire Turner truly is a saint, isn’t he?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>You can’t have your own ranch because he’s
bought up all the land, but for a small fee you can come for a week and he will
allow you to admire all that he possesses.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>And how affordable is a week at Vermejo Park Ranch?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>According to its <a href="http://vermejoparkranch.com/">website</a>, “Rates [start] at $1,050
double occupancy, all meals and non-guided activities included.”<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So a week would cost you a mere $7,350….minimum.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>That billionaire Turner has a heart of gold,
don’t you think?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Now let’s talk about the billionaire, the leftist and the
environment.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The purchase of Vermejo Park
Ranch included a 25,000 square foot main house (Casa Grande), an adjacent lodge
and six cottages.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Per the article, “Fonda
was appalled by what she initially encountered” upon seeing the buildings for
the first time.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>There was wall-to-wall
carpeting and blue velvet furniture, for heaven’s sake.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Naturally all this had to be ripped out and
delivered to the landfill.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The
restoration/redecoration is admittedly beautiful, but I can’t help but wonder
at what cost to the environment.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>How much
pollution was created as crews of workmen travelled back and forth to the ranch
with their materials?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And, of course,
how much pollution was created in the making of these materials?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The ornate fireplace pictured in the article
featured a lovely, roaring fire.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Was
this necessary to heat this massive building or was the carbon-emitting fire
made solely for the purpose of an aesthetically-pleasing photo?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I’ll cut to the chase.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>I find the barefaced hypocrisy of billionaire Turner and leftist Fonda
to be as stunning as their ranch.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>These
are the very same people who work so hard to elect leftist politicians whose
mission is to force ordinary Americans to limit their “carbon footprints” by restricting
our access to fuel sources, vehicles, lumber, and anything else that THEY deem
off-limits.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>These are the very same
people who whine about the absence of affordable housing, even while they drive
up the cost of land by indulging themselves in lavish purchases of hundreds of
thousands of acres.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Part way into the
article Fonda cheerfully notes that Turner owns four ranches in Montana
alone.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">“We’d eat breakfast
and early-morning fish at one, and drive two hours to the next for lunch and
more fishing.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Then on – an (sic) –
another couple of hours to a third for dinner,” </i>laughed the leftist, Jane
Fonda.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Isn’t that charming?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Presumably all this driving from one ranch to another occurred after the
billionaire and the leftist flew in to Montana from one of their many other
properties located elsewhere in the country, perhaps on the private jet owned
by billionaire Turner.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And I think we
can assume that some employee(s) had to drive to these ranches to cook for the
pampered pair, as it’s hardly likely that they would have stooped to such a
lowly chore themselves.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><br /></i></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I’m a conservative who believes in free-market capitalism, so
I don’t mind if billionaire Turner and leftist Fonda make money and spend it as
they please; but I certainly mind when they live like capitalists while influencing
our politics like communist dictators.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>When
are we going to have laws that limit people like billionaire Turner and leftist
Fonda to the same small carbon footprints that they would like to see the rest
of us relegated to?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The first time we
enact such laws will be the last time billionaire Turner or leftist Fonda
supports a Democrat for political office.<o:p></o:p></div>

stole from taxpayers to put half the country on food stamps, or when taxpayers were
stolen from to give bigger and bigger “refunds” to people who never paid one
dime in taxes?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>On the scale of what’s
bad for the character of the country, making us a nation of thieves ought to
far outweigh petty name-calling, and yet I don’t recall ever hearing Romney scolding
Barack Obama or calling his character into question in an op-ed.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

Americans who believed that race relations in this country were good plummeted
by just about half during the reign of Barack Obama.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He and Democrats <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">intentionally</i> pitted blacks against whites, females against males, poor
against rich – all as part of their political strategy.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>That should have been obvious to anyone paying
attention.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So where was Mr. Romney’s
op-ed denouncing the failure of Obama to bring us together?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And maybe Mr. Romney, in his infinite wisdom,
can advise Donald Trump as to precisely how he’s supposed to unite the country when
he’s up against blind “resistance,” the sole purpose of which is to keep us as
disunited as possible.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Please enlighten
us, oh moral one!<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;">
</div>
<div style="margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%; margin: 0px;">Every so
often I’ll read a news story about a parent who, estranged or divorced from the
other parent, wittingly or unwittingly takes out their unhappiness, their anger
or their frustration on their innocent children.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>It is not uncommon for feuding ex-s to
withhold visitation or to unfairly poison a child’s mind against the other
parent without regard to how this hurts their child.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>In extreme cases parents have been known to torture,
injure or kill their own children in their blind quest for vengeance or power
over their ex, or sometimes they kill the ex and make orphans of their
children.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>I am always dumbstruck when I
hear about acts of such incomprehensible selfishness.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>Who could possibly argue that something hasn’t
gone wrong in the minds of these so-called parents?</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%; margin: 0px;">It is this
mentality that I am so often reminded of as I watch the increasingly selfish actions
of the American Left (AL), who for decades now have demonstrated that there is
nothing sacred belonging to this country that they will not allow to be sacrificed
in their pursuit of the power and attention that they are hopelessly addicted
to.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>Our Constitution, our unity, our
sovereignty, our security, or economy, our financial stability, our justice
system, our patriotism, our trust in American institutions, our future…. even
our unborn.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Nothing</i> is off the table in the <a href="https://imprimis.hillsdale.edu/americas-cold-civil-war/"><span style="color: #0563c1;">cold civil war</span></a>
being waged by AL, and I mean <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">nothing</i>.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%; margin: 0px;">The fight
over illegal immigration and border security is merely one example of AL’s scorched-earth
mindset.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>Like the divorced parent who spoils
the child – ultimately harming the child and the rest of society – to win the
child’s affection away from the other parent, Democrats see the issue of
illegal immigration not as an affront to our laws and sovereignty and a problem
that must be solved but as an opportunity to be exploited.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>By coddling and rewarding the illegals,
Democrats can portray themselves as philanthropic and generous (at no real cost
to <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">them</i>, naturally) in contrast to
the “mean, stingy” Republicans to win favor with American Hispanics, immigrants
and in the pliable minds of America’s youth who are easily manipulated when
complicated issues are reduced to “nice” vs. “mean.” <span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>What does this cost Americans?<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>In addition to the hundreds of billions we’re
forced to spend on education, healthcare, welfare, lost tax revenue, and costs<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>(both financial and human) related to crime, Americans
are losing faith in our government and our laws.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>The resentment this naturally creates towards
those who are here illegally is then cynically used by AL to condemn their
fellow citizens as “racists.”<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>This
traitorous attitude with respect to illegal immigration has long been AL’s
unspoken policy, but with the election of Donald Trump they’ve crossed the line
into scorched-earth territory whereby no stance is too outrageous.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>You want your laws upheld?<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>AL will show you whose boss.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>They’ll use your own mayors and judges and
other elected officials – paid for with <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">your</i>
tax dollars – to protect and give sanctuary to the illegals at your
expense.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>Take <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">that</i>.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>You want your sovereignty
respected?<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>AL will show you.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>They’ll propose making it legal for the
illegals to vote, and they’ll drown out your voice.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>That’s scorched-earth politics.</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%; margin: 0px;">This is what
the cold civil war looks like.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>It looks
like the surrender of U.S. autonomy in the name of “climate change” and sanctimonious
declarations that “<a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/george-will-debate-over-obamas-mantra-tim-cavanaugh/"><span style="color: #0563c1;">the
debate is over!”</span></a> whenever we dare to disagree.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>It looks like applauding a movement started
by a spoiled football player to disparage the American flag and all that it
stands for.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>It looks like the shameful Kavanaugh
farce and the attempts to delegitimize conservative appointees to the Supreme
Court.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>It looks like blind “resistance”
to a legally elected president.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>It looks
like threats of impeachment without basis under the Constitution.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>It looks like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer lying
to the cameras that they came to the White House “in good faith” to discuss funding
the border wall when clearly their mission all along was to plant the seeds of
a Trump government shutdown for their own political gain.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>Scorched earth.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%; margin: 0px;">AL blames
Donald Trump.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>They claim that they’ve been
pushed to the edge by Trump’s lack of civility, his unacceptable behavior, his
fascism, his collusion with Russia…maybe even his bad haircut.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>But the hypocrisy inevitably proves the lie,
right?<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>These are the very same people who
have applauded incivility from their own kind for decades, the same people who
circled the wagons around Bill Clinton and ridiculed his accusers, the same
people who want the government to be all-powerful, and the same people who yawned
at news reports of Barack Obama whispering sweet nothings into the ear of the Russian
president and who dismissed reports of good old Hillary approving the sale of
U.S. uranium to Russia in exchange for cash to her foundation.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%; margin: 0px;">The fact of
the matter is that AL treated George W. Bush almost as badly as they do Trump (“Bush
lied, people died” – remember that neat little ditty?).<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>They relentlessly ridiculed Bush, viciously suggested
that he orchestrated 9-11 and the murder of thousands of Americans, sabotaged
the White House before he took office, maliciously doctored documents to make
it look like he lied about his military service, and more.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>AL deemed Bush “<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/03/politics/campaign/bush-is-unfit-to-lead-us-kerry-charges.html"><span style="color: #0563c1;">unfit</span></a>”
long before bestowing that mantle on Trump, but Trump has been an especially vexing
adversary because of his refusal to play by AL’s one-sided rules of “civility
(i.e. censorship of the Right),” not to mention his surprise victory over their
expected ticket to power, Hillary Clinton.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%; margin: 0px;">The bottom
line is this:<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>What we’re seeing is
merely the American Left as it <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">really</i>
is, not some temporary tantrum triggered by Donald Trump.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>Trump has only helped to fully expose what
was there all along.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>AL is determined to
control this country, even if that means they must destroy it first, that much
should be clear to everyone by now.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>This
is their <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">“sickness of the mind,” </i>as
so brilliantly analogized for us by J. R. Tolkien and the “precious” ring that
was the object of scorched-earth battles in his books.<span style="margin: 0px;"> </span>It’s just a tragedy that people won’t know
what they had until it’s gone.</span></div>
